SERVICES & PRICING
Detailed Cleaning. Repair. Customization. Appraisals.
Straightforward service information, clear pricing where practical, and an honest evaluation before additional work is performed.
Services are evaluated according to the firearm, its condition, and the work requested. Fixed or starting prices are listed below where practical; repair work begins with evaluation and diagnosis before additional work is authorized.
Pricing note: Prices shown reflect current standard service rates and are subject to change. Unless otherwise stated, listed prices are for labor only. Parts, materials, shipping, testing costs, and applicable taxes are additional when required.
DETAILED CLEANING
More than a field strip and wipe-down.
A detailed cleaning goes beyond a basic field strip. The firearm is disassembled as appropriate for the design, components are inspected and cleaned, the barrel, chamber and action areas are serviced, and the firearm is lubricated, reassembled and function checked.
Base pricing covers standard detailed cleaning. Excessive fouling, rust, seized components, or conditions requiring substantially more labor may affect the final price.

Shotguns+
Some older designs require substantially more disassembly and service time. Examples currently include Browning A5, Remington Model 11, Savage Model 720, Winchester 1893, 1897 and Model 12.

REPAIR & DIAGNOSTICS
Evaluate first. Diagnose the problem. Discuss the next step.
Firearms left for repair are evaluated in the shop queue. Once the problem is identified, parts availability, anticipated labor, and the recommended repair can be discussed before additional work proceeds.
The $40 minimum diagnostic/repair fee is applied toward the recommended repair when that repair is authorized. If the scope or anticipated cost materially changes after authorization, work pauses and the customer is contacted before additional work proceeds.
Diagnostic & Common Repair Pricing+
Applied toward the recommended repair when that repair is authorized.
When workload and the firearm permit an expedited evaluation.
CUSTOMIZATION
Evaluated project by project.
Customization is available case by case, based on the firearm platform, requested work, parts compatibility, and current shop capabilities. Current work includes selected sight, trigger, component and AR-platform installation or fitment services. The examples below are representative, not an exhaustive list.

APPRAISALS & VALUATION
Firearm Appraisals & Valuation
A service of its own—not a footnote.
Written firearm valuations are available for estate or inheritance matters, insurance documentation, private-sale planning, and general market-value purposes.
If an attorney, insurer, court, tax professional, or other organization has supplied specific appraisal requirements, please provide those requirements when requesting service so they can be reviewed before the appraisal is accepted.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Other common shop work.
PARTS, AUTHORIZATION & SHOP POLICIES
Clear expectations before the work begins.
Parts & Materials+
Parts and materials are billed separately from labor. Parts supplied by Modern Primitive Gunworks are billed at the shop's current retail price. Shipping and other applicable costs may also apply.
Special-order or higher-cost parts may require payment or a deposit before ordering.
Parts Research & Sourcing+
Normal parts sourcing is included with shop-supplied parts. Obsolete, discontinued, uncommon, or difficult-to-locate components may require additional research time.
Significant research or sourcing charges will be discussed with the customer before they are incurred.
Customer-Supplied Parts+
Customer-supplied parts may be accepted for installation at the shop's discretion. Compatibility, condition, and suitability cannot be guaranteed until the part and firearm have been evaluated.
Labor performed to inspect, fit, install, diagnose, or remove a customer-supplied part is billable even if the part is ultimately found defective, incompatible, or unsuitable. Modern Primitive Gunworks stands behind its workmanship but cannot provide a warranty on customer-supplied parts.
The shop may decline installation of a component believed to be unsafe, unsuitable, damaged, improperly manufactured, or inappropriate for the intended application.
Workmanship & Parts+
Modern Primitive Gunworks stands behind the quality of its workmanship. If a problem is determined to have resulted from work performed by the shop, the workmanship issue will be corrected at no additional labor charge.
Parts and components remain subject to the warranty, if any, provided by their manufacturer. When a shop-supplied component appears to have failed because of a manufacturing defect, MPG will reasonably assist with the manufacturer or supplier when possible.
This workmanship policy does not cover misuse, neglect, improper ammunition, damage, normal wear, subsequent modification or repair by another person, or circumstances unrelated to the work originally performed.
If you believe there is a problem with work performed by MPG, please contact the shop before attempting further repair or modification.
Completed Work & Storage+
Customers will be contacted when their firearm or other item is ready for pickup. Items should be picked up promptly after notification.
Items remaining at the shop for an extended period may be subject to reasonable storage fees after appropriate notice has been provided. Property that remains unclaimed may ultimately be disposed of in accordance with applicable Nebraska and federal law. Required notice will be provided before any such disposition occurs.
Applicable state and local taxes will be applied at the rates in effect at the time of service.
Expedited service may be available for time-sensitive projects depending on current workload and the work required. Availability and pricing must be confirmed in advance.
Modern Primitive Gunworks reserves the right to decline work that the shop believes would result in an unsafe firearm or otherwise falls outside current shop capabilities. The shop will not remove, deactivate, or intentionally defeat a firearm's factory safety mechanism.
Drop it off? Plan to pick it up.
The person who drops off a firearm for service should plan to pick it up when the work is complete. If someone else will need to receive the firearm, please contact Modern Primitive Gunworks in advance, as federal transfer requirements may apply.
NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED?
Tell me what the firearm is doing.
You don't need to diagnose it yourself. Describe the firearm, what it is doing, when the problem occurs, or the work you're considering, and we'll determine the appropriate next step. Even if the best description you have is “it makes a weird noise and sometimes doesn't work,” that's enough to start the conversation.
